Celebrate Art will give guests an exclusive tour of the privately-owned and rarely-accessible Gibbs Farm sculpture park, stockroom tours of leading Auckland galleries Gow Langsford and Two Rooms, and the opportunity to listen and learn from two of the southern hemisphere art world’s foremost scholars.
The chance to view the Gibbs Farm sculptures, set against the stunning backdrop of the Kaipara Harbour is a highly sought-after experience and one that a privileged few can enjoy. Combine this with three days of indulging in food, wine, spa and golf in the idyllic surrounds of The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs, and you have a weekend never to be forgotten.
Guest speakers Sue Gardiner and Rhana Devenport are engaging speakers so expect to be enthralled by their takes on what's important, what's happening now and what you need to know in today's fast moving art work.
Sue Gardiner is the co-Director of the Chartwell Collection of New Zealand and Australian Contemporary Art, held on permanent loan at the Auckland Art Gallery. She specialises in trans-Tasman art interests and exchanges, and is passionate, learned and has her finger on the pulse of the international and trans-Tasman art scene.
Rhana Devenport, Director of The Auckland Art Gallery, will share her thoughts on New Zealand art with a regional context. Rhana curated New Zealand artist Lisa Reihana’s video work In Pursuit of Venus first at the Auckland Art Gallery and then as New Zealand’s representative at the 2017 Venice Biennale.
Pair all this with luxury lodge accommodation and over 6000 hectares of stunning coastal farmland, a world-class golf course and a beautiful spa sanctuary, and a memorable and enjoyable weekend is ensured.
The inaugural Kauri Cliffs Celebrate Art weekend sold out quickly, so don’t delay if you are interested in being part of it in 2018.
