Chocolate Peppermint Crisps

The festive season is the perfect time to indulge in a few treats. With this in mind, we asked Head Chef at Cape Kidnappers, James Honore, if he would mind sharing his recipe for these delicious biscuits.


  • ¼ cup soft butter
  • ½ cup honey 
  • 2 oz (60g) semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted
  • 1 egg 
  • 1 tablespoon milk 
  • 1 ⅓ cups flour 
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt 
  • ¼ cup crushed peppermint stick candy



  1. In mixing bowl, cream butter and honey until fluffy.
  2. Add melted chocolate. Mix well.
  3. Blend in egg and milk.
  4. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture and mix well.
  5. Chill dough at least 30 minutes.
  6. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Press each cookie with bottom of glass coated with flour to flatten.
  7. Sprinkle each cookie with crushed peppermint stick candy.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) F 8 to 10 minutes until done. Cool slightly before removing from cookie sheet.
