As you enjoy your view of the lake from Matakauri Lodge, you may notice our local 105-year-old steamer the TSS Earnslaw as it travels up and down Lake Wakatipu.

Enjoy a stately cruise across the lake to Walter Peak Station on its far shore. Music and viewing of the original coal engine fire stoking en route will fill any spare moment you are not captivated by the scenery.

In addition to the standard return steamer cruise, on arrival at Walter Peak you have the option of watching sheep shearing, working dog demonstrations and enjoy a full high tea or BBQ lunch before re-boarding for the return journey. Your afternoon is easily extended to include a horse trek through Walter Peak Station.
